Shireen has had vitiligo for years and gets upset and outraged by how people treat her...
"I found a tiny white patch on my ankle when I was about 14 years old and as the years went on, the patches grew and grew. I'd say about 40% of me is now white and the rest my natural skin colour- dark brown.
I try not to let the condition bring me down, because it doesn't hurt and I've never been image-conscious anyway, so I didn't care what people thought about me. Or so I thought. Years of constant open stares, rude and tactless comments and even looks of disgust has had an effect on the way I think. I'm not as strong as I was, but I try not to let it get me down. Instead, it makes me angry. How dare they talk to me or look at me like that, when on the inside, I'm no different to them? I just look different... I hope that one day people will be able to see passed my skin..."
