Big Swim Challenge 2012

Ongoing throughout 2012

Be part of something amazing this year and take the plunge with our biggest ever swimming event and help raise vital funds for children living with skin disease. All sponsorship money raised will go towards the British Skin Foundation Children's Fund for research into all skin diseases that affect children.

In 2011 we had some amazing swimmers, from mums and their sons through to one BSF supporter in Coventry who swam an amazing 34km over the week leading up to Christmas! Remember, if everyone does a little bit, we’ll reach that target in no time.

How does this work?

Simple, adults and children over the age of three years can take part in the Big Swim Challenge. Then all you have to do is decide on how far you’d like to swim, where you'll do it (ie. local pool), if you’ll be swimming as a team and when you want to do the challenge (your sponsored swim can take place at any time during 2012).

Register for your FREE fundraising pack by filling in the online form below or by calling 020 7391 6088. Once you have got that you can start getting sponsorship from friends and family and then start swimming!

Send in the sponsorship money with the form to FREEPOST British Skin Foundation, 4 Fitzroy Square, London, W1T 5HQ

All swimmers will receive a swimmers pack with sponsor forms and information on how to organise their sponsored swim. Further sponsor forms and posters can be downloaded from this page.

Where will my money go?

Millions of children in the UK live with some form of skin condition. With up to one in five children in the UK suffering from eczema, something needs to be done. The BSF Children's Fund was set up because we wanted to address the fact that there needs to be more research into childhood skin diseases.

Case Study

After battling with a nasty cold in the last week before Christmas 2011, BSF supporter Simon Malka completed a total of 1416 lengths of his local swimming pool over the course of a week - the equivalent of swimming the English Channel.

"I live with a skin disease called hidradenitis suppurativa, and wanted to do something for the BSF. On my first day of the swim, I swam nine kilometres, and by the end of the last day, I had swam for five hours! I emerged tired, chafed and hugry...but victorious." Simon Malka, Wolston.
