Walk for Skin in London is back!

Walk for Skin in London is shaping up to be the biggest and best yet. Find out why…If you’ve ever wondered why Big Ben is called Big Ben, then you may well want to come along to the Walk for Skin event in London on the 27th June 2010. This and many other questions that have mystified Londoners will finally be revealed in the last of the seven walks that have made up 2010’s Walk for Skin.

Discover a secret London you never knew…
This year the walk is a fully guided Blue Badge walk, which means a fully trained and extremely knowledgeable tour guide will lead you around some of the most historic and famous sites in London.

But I know about it all already…
Do you really? During the walk you’ll find out all sorts of things including how number 10 Downing Street became the official residence of the Prime Minister as well as how nearby Pall Mall and Whitehall got their names. You’ll also get a chance to stand in the very centre point of London, learn the gruesome truth about the second window on the left side  of the infamous Banqueting House and join the Royal Ranks (well, almost) as you uncover the secrets behind the St James’s gentlemen clubs.

Where does the walk go?
Starting at St Thomas’ Hospital, you’ll cross Westminster Bridge, go round Parliament Square, through Whitehall and the Horse Guards across the pretty flower beds of St James’ Park (not literally) and end up at Buckingham Palace. From there you’ll past St James’s Palace and onto Piccadilly, Trafalgar Square before cruising through the streets of Soho and finishing at Fitzroy Square. All this for £5.

That’s not bad!
It’s true; it is a very good deal for an even better cause. To make it even sweeter we’ve thrown in FREE entry to the Fitzroy Summer Fete for all walkers on the day. The walk itself will finish at Fitzroy Square, which apart from being the home of the British Skin Foundation, is also where we are holding our first ever summer fete. Think traditional fete games like hook-a-duck and the coconut shy, real ales, a full blown hog roast, hand-made crafts and jewellery, cakes and chocolates and a brass band to round things off.

Sounds good, so what do I do now?
Simple, you simply need to register by clicking here. A family ticket is a measly £10; otherwise it’s £5 for adults and £3 for children. We’ll get you a fundraising pack through the post along with your FREE Walk for Skin T-shirts and everything else you’ll need to have a fabulous day out for the family.
