Applications are now open for the 2024 British Skin Foundation Large Grant Awards.

Applications must be submitted by Thursday 11th July 2024 (13:00 BST) in order to be considered further for support. Completed, eligible applications will be forwarded to the Grants Advisory Committee in May. Applicants can expect to be notified with the outcome of their applications by December 2024.


There are four BSF Research Award categories available:

Research Award
Young Investigator Award
Fellowship Award
Studentship Award

As part of the award process, the BSF's Grants Advisory Committee use the following criteria when reviewing applications:

• Overall value to patients with skin disease
• Scientific quality
• Value for money
• How much support the Principal Investigator has had from the BSF in the past 5 years
• Training environment (For Studentships and Fellowships only)

Please note: Applicants must accept that the Grants Advisory Committee has a conflict of interest policy. Applicants do not have the right to request inclusion or exclusion of particular GAC panel members from the deliberations on their applications.

No more than one BSF Research, Fellowship, Studentship or Young investigator Award application may be submitted by a Principal Investigator, per application round (i.e. in 2024). There is no limit the the number of applications that a co-applicant may feature on.

Applications will not be accepted from Principal Investigators who currently hold an active BSF Large Grant as PI. The decision of the BSF Grants Advisory Committee for all applications is final.

Results of the 2024 BSF Research Awards will be communicated via email.
