With up to one in five children in the UK suffering from eczema, something needs to be done.
People often underestimate the seriousness of skin diseases. The sad truth is that every year a number of children will die from some of the more severe forms of skin disease, like Harlequin Ichthyosis, or even from extreme cases of eczema where infection from exposed skin proves to be the biggest problem.
What's more, think about the countless number of carers and parents who are affected by skin disease. Imagine the countless number of hours spent taking the child to the hospital, applying creams and other ointments, taking time off work or even simply losing sleep worrying about their child. Even simple things like paying for prescriptions will mount up.
You can help make a difference by simply making a donation. You could even hold your own fundraising event in aid of the Children’s Fund by clicking here. Some of our events in 2010, such as the Big Swim Challenge, will raise money directly towards the appeal, and it's important that you help us too.
