Daniel has had eczema since he was 12. Now aged 28, he tells us how it affects his life...

"People always underestimate the effects skin diseases like eczema can have on someone's life. I first went to the doctor when I was twelve and had scratched all the skin off the backs of my knees. My doctor told me I had eczema and that I had infected it.

Sixteen years on and its still here with me. It comes and goes on various parts of my body, I get it mostly now around my neck, my back and parts of my face. Sometime I wake myself up in the middle of the night through all the scratching so I'm often tired as I've not had a decent night's sleep, only to see in the morning that I’ve scratched my skin raw.

It's a bit distressing when you rub your eyes and see bits of skin fall off like dandruff. Moisturising is really important to try and keep the flaking at bay. Its bad enough for me as an adult, so I feel sorry for those whose eczema is more severe, especially if they are a child."
