Our Community News Running in memory of Connor February 2019 Running the London Marathon for melanoma research Craig Petrocelli is running the London Marathon in memory of late partner Connor who sadly passed away from malignant melanoma in 2014. After bravely battling the disease in high school, including multiple surgeries, stitches, skin grafts and biopsies – the cancer returned during his college years. Craig Petrocelli Craig says “It feels like we tried everything. Every medication, every treatment, every Harry Potter audiobook, and every ounce of positivity and hope we could muster up. Unfortunately, while treatment was able to attack the melanoma in his body, it could not cross the brain barrier and protect his brain." Craig and Connor On January 1, 2014, Connor had a seizure that would take hours to stabilise and it was determined on that day that treatment was no longer an option. Connor never opened his eyes again.Five years later, Craig is raising money for skin cancer research to help find treatment and cures for this cruel disease. Connor Craig explains, “Throughout this journey and following Connors passing, my life changed. The person I loved so deeply and who helped me become the person I wanted to be was gone, and I didn’t know what to do next. Now I’m running the London marathon and raising money for an incredible cause. In loving memory of Connor and in strength with those who have lost someone they love as I have.” Read more on Craig’s fundraising page here. Good luck Craig!
