The Children's Wave begins

The Children’s Wave, brought to you by the British Skin Foundation and Pampers, is a chance to celebrate the vital role children have played in the UK’s response to the current pandemic by creating the world’s biggest online Mexican wave.

By washing their hands children have learnt about the importance of cleanliness, not just for themselves, but to protect those they love around them.  Through these simple actions they are playing a key role in beating Covid-19.

It was to recognise these efforts that the British Skin Foundation and Pampers have given children a virtual platform from which to wave to their family and friends showing off those clean hands.

It’s quick and easy to get involved with The Children’s Wave.  Parents simply need to visit thechildrenswave.co.uk on a mobile phone and upload two portrait photos of their child

  1. With a smiling face and hands ready
  2. With a smiling face and hands high in the air

Shortly after the photos have been uploaded, parents will be able to view their child's wave and share this with family and friends on social media. Their wave will also be added to the full Mexican wave where they can spot their child taking part with children from across the UK.

Matthew Patey, Chief Executive Officer at the British Skin Foundation explains,

“Children across the UK have taken the simple step of regularly washing their hands over the past 11 weeks learning the importance of hygiene in preventing the spread of this terrible virus. It’s right that we should celebrate the part they have played at this challenging time.”

Nicole Hallak, Brand Manager of Pampers UK agrees,

“It’s important to remember the role children have played during these past few months. Hygiene is an important part of our little one’s happy, healthy development and it’s great that we’ve been able to collaborate with the British Skin Foundation to spread some awareness and virtual happiness with the Children’s Wave.”
